Avenger of the Week | Elan Morgan

From left to right: Gina Glantz, Elan Morgan, and Susan Askew.

Today we celebrate Elan Morgan, who in effect, invented GenderAvenger. It was my idea; but Elan breathed life into this idea. They gave it direction and purpose, laying the foundation for what you know of GenderAvenger today. Elan is the person whose images have appeared in every public GA communication. It was the allure of their work that drew you in to discover the underpinnings of the GA mission and that propelled your actions.

For Elan, design is not simply a sense of style and artistic talent, it is informed by analytics to insure growth. I learned about subject lines, and best timing, and active narratives, which may seem obvious, but when you have a wonderfully strong-willed, smart educator, you learn that one’s instincts are not always the best strategy. Elan’s husband told me he often would find them in an intense conversation that they described as, “I am arguing with Gina”  followed by “I think I am wearing her down”.  And, good thing they did.

Most importantly, Elan has guided my learning and growth regarding the gender continuum, shaping GenderAvenger’s growth and stance on inclusion and gender equality in public dialogue.

Pre-GenderAvenger, Elan is equally impressive. Elan is a writer, poet, artist, speaker, community-builder, and GenderAvenger. With a blog that is “old enough to drive”, they were one of the OG bloggers, highlighting great content with Five Star Friday. Plus, they were a BlogHer editor and contributing writer at MamaPop.

For their unwavering dedication to gender equality, inclusion, and contributions to shaping GenderAvenger’s mission and growing the movement, Elan Morgan is our Avenger of the Week.

This week, we are thrilled to honor a founding member of the #GenderAvenger family, Elan Morgan, as the #AvengerOfTheWeek for their unparalleled creativity and commitment to the mission of gender equality and inclusion for all.
