More women making beer and running breweries, but it's still a man's world”:

“The reality is that women do not have equal representation across the brewing industry,” says Stephanie Martens, co-founder of Pond Farm Brewing, in San Rafael.

Because of the skewed statistics and the male-dominated environment of the brewing business, Martens says, women are less likely to envision themselves in the industry or apply to brewing careers. In addition, men already in the industry tend to hire more men, she says. Raising awareness of successful women in the beer industry through storytelling is a way to break this cycle.

“This will inspire more women to pursue a career in beer and unlock new opportunities,” she says.
