Action Alert | Food Network and Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival Lineup Stinks

It’s a fairly well-known fact that the food industry is male-centric, and the New York City Wine & Food Festival is no exception. This festival, founded in 2008 by Lee Brian Schrager, SVP Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, features a “personality” list numbering in the hundreds, and yet only 29% of them are women. We're calling BS.

With the variety of talent types listed (restaurant owners, farmers, celebrities, and chefs), it should not be hard to have an even 50/50 gender split, and seeing as the festival doesn’t take place until October, it can certainly happen.

You'd think @FoodNetwork and @CookingChannel NYC Wine & Food Festival ‪presented by @CapitalOne, ‬founded by @Lee_Schrager, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility, would have a gender-balanced lineup. Add more women to @NYCWFF! #NYCWFF #genderavenger https://www.genderavenger.com/blog/action-alert-new-york-city-wine-food-festival-lineup-stinks
