This Halloween, Help Us Unmask More Ghoulish Excuses for the Lack of Women's Voices

It’s a real treat for the GenderAvenger community to read up on all the tricks event leaders use to justify the lack of women speaking at their conferences (if by “a real treat” we mean “highly motivating”). Our How to Beat the Excuses page one of our most visited, which tells us two things: one, that our community is constantly hearing excuses for why more women are not included on panels, main stages, boards, etc, and, two, that you want to know what you can do about it.

We’ve already taken the top 12 excuses we’ve heard for a lack of women speakers and provided easy-to-use scripts for how to beat them.

But we know there are more excuses lurking out there. We know you’re hearing things like women can’t be invited to speak at the last minute because it takes too long to get their hair done. Ridiculous, right? While there may be no words to respond to that exceedingly out of touch excuse, we know there are more responses we could have at the ready for all the other excuses you’re hearing.

Help us take those skeletons out of the closet.

Drop us a line to share the excuses that have been haunting you, and we’ll scare up a response to add to our list.
