HallofFame | TechCrunch Disrupt SF Leaves the GenderAvenger Hall of Shame!

GenderAvenger has been keeping tabs on TechCrunch Disrupt SF for the last couple of years, and they have consistently placed themselves in the Hall of Shame with disappointing numbers of women speakers (14% in 2014, 28% in 2015). This year, we are happy to report that Disrupt SF 2016 has finally made it out of the Hall of Shame with 34% women speakers!

While a tech conference featuring 66% male speakers still doesn’t sound all that disruptive to us, it does show a marked improvement from last year and a steady trend towards greater inclusion. That deserves some recognition. The conference, held September 12-14 in San Francisco, brings together the “best and brightest entrepreneurs, investors, hackers, and tech fans” to discuss the biggest innovations in tech. Keep up the good work, TechCrunch. We hope to see you in the Hall of Fame in 2017.
