#GAReads | 3% Conference Spotlights Hurdles for Women at Ad Agencies
The conference was created to promote the role of women in creative leadership at ad agencies, deriving its name from a 2008 statistic that said only 3 percent of creative directors at top ad agencies were women. It was a striking figure that suggested that modern-day Madison Avenue was perhaps more entrenched in its “Mad Men” days than it would like to admit.
Since then, the number of women in top creative jobs has risen. But the conference, now known as the 3% Movement, has continued to put an unflinching spotlight on the power dynamics that shape the ad industry.
