Action Alert | San Francisco Chronicle: Mostly White Dudes Know Visionaries

The word visionary is defined as “a person with original ideas about what the future will or could be like,” and when thinking about what the future will or could be like, a group of mostly white dudes is exactly who we want determining outcomes, right?

Via sfchronicle.com about their Visionary of the Year Award, which is meant “to inspire change by illuminating the great work of these visionaries” (with some edits by us in bold):

Who makes up the VisionSF Nominating Committee?

The VisionSF Nominating Committee is led by San Francisco Chronicle Editorial Page Editor John Diaz (a guy). The Nominating Committee includes visionaries in their own right: white guy Greg Becker, non-white guy Emmett D. Carson, white guy Ron Conway, white guy Steve Malnight, OMG A WOMAN! Libby Schaaf, another woman Charlotte M. Shultz, and surprise! white guy George P. Shultz.

When thinking about what the future will or could be like, a group of mostly white dudes (and only white women) isn’t exactly what we have in mind.
